Our second day in NYC we spent trying to cram in as much sightseeing as possible before and after our pre-law forum.
We started the day with a subway ride to Staten Island. Unfortunately, the line to actually take the ferry and see the statue of liberty was twice around the block, so we just saw the statue of liberty from afar and then walked over to the memorial site of 9/11. It was surreal to be standing where only a decade ago so much horror and pain was happening and peoples lives were changed forever. We didn’t have time to go inside the memorial, but I definitely want to come back some day and see it!
At the LSAC pre-law forum we got to visit with dozens of law schools – it was actually quite overwhelming – so many options!
After, we took a walk through Central Park, went to the Brooklyn Bridge, walked through China town, had dinner in Little Italy and finished up some shopping in Times Square. Let’s just say my feet were killing me by end of the day – I was so not used to so much walking, but I do like that aspect of city life.
The statue of liberty – way too far away!
Train ticket from Newark, NJ to Penn Station.
I love all the tall buildings combined with historic buildings.
The building of the Freedom Tower on the site of where the Twin Towers used to stand.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s anyone?
Me on Wall Street with that day’s New York Times with a front page article on Occupy Wall Street. To believe that I was there and got see first hand the protests and the security – that’s a story to share with my kids one day!
Gyro – so delicious. I do like the vendor food availability in big cities!
The view from the Brooklyn Bridge.
Me on the Brooklyn Bridge – once again surreal experience.

I’m going to miss NY – definitely coming back some day! For longer than a weekend, preferably
